What is own happiness? Is there a universal concept? The answer is no. And although all the people agree on that need to reach it, the road to reach it is completely different.
Do you want to discover what makes you happy? Psychologist and psychotherapist offers you a series of tips that will help you achieve your goal to achieve your own happiness …
Nobody can decide on your happiness
You will usually read in many places and you will hear many people talking about what needs to be done to be happy, as if they know what is best for each person. This type of guidelines can lead you to the opposite: to frustration, sadness and helplessness. They tell you things like: “To be happy you have to travel”, “work on something you’re passionate about”, “strengthen your friendship and family ties” … And although these guidelines make a lot of sense, if you internalize them as a norm or duty, they can cause you a serious problem.
Listen to your inner voice
Nobody knows you better than yourself, that’s why, you have to inquire in your interior about what you want to achieve your own happiness. Create a link between what you think, feel and do, and that all act in congruence and harmony. Non-happiness comes when you do something that you do not feel, when you put aside your inner voice and respond to what you should do, instead of what you want.
Be patient with yourself
Becoming aware and getting in touch with what makes you happy, from a genuine point and without judgment, is not always easy. It is normal that many times you do not know how to identify what you feel, much less locate it in the body. What does this mean? That you try, that you try, that you be patient and affectionate with yourself. Awareness will help you to realize little by little what it is you want and what makes you happy.
Learn to recognize those moments of well-being
Recognize what you feel, will help you identify those moments in your life that make you happy, and therefore, to look for more moments like that. The only person who has the key to happiness is yourself. Listen to what may be best for you and choose the things that give you satisfaction. Stop for a moment and ask yourself: What do you feel when you see yourself in this situation? What generates you to the body? Do you have tension or relaxation? And most importantly, do you do it for and for you, or do you do it to please others about what you are supposed to do to be happy?
Practice this exercise
I propose something, a simple exercise to help you listen to you and to get a little closer to yourselves. Remember a happy moment. Imagine all the circumstances that surrounded him, the people that were with you, everything that was happening and stop to feel all that happiness. Next, locate where in the body you feel. Now you are ready to relive that pleasant feeling, whenever and wherever you want.
